Best BBQ Sauce for Ribs

Sadly I only got one photo of the sauce and it wasn't even on the ribs. However, I did take good notes as I was making it. This recipe is a lifer. Sauce was so good. 

 

INGREDIENTS

Olive or Vegetable Oil to coat bottom of pan

2 yellow onions (medium sized), finely chopped

10 cloves garlic, minced

3/4 cup of Jack Daniels (separated)

3 TBSP + 1 tsp Chili Powder

1 tsp paprika

1 tsp salt

1 TBSP (heaping) group pepper

1/2 tsp Cayenne

1 cup (packed) Brown Sugar

1/4 cup Red Wine Vinegar

1/4 cup Apple Cider Vinegar

2/3 cup Yellow Mustard

1/2 cup Worcestershire Sauce

5 teaspoons of Liquid Smoke 

 

Heat oil on bottom of large pot/dutch oven. Add onions and cook until soft (approximately 3 minutes). Add garlic and continue cooking for another couple of minutes.

 

Add 1/2 cup of Jack Daniels and allow to reduce for 5 minutes.

 

Add chili powder, paprika, cayenne, salt and pepper. Stir and cook for another minute.

 

Add remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce to low and simmer for another hour; stirring frequently. Allow sauce to come to room temp then refrigerate - overnight if you can.
